Ethiopia / Blots of Color

Justine was born in Rota, Spain while her family was stationed overseas. Her physical and mental developmental delays were noted at “well baby” checks. She received early intervention services including leg casting to assist in the transition from crawling to walking, as well as speech, occupational and physical therapies while her family was transferred to the Chicago and Washington, DC metropolitan areas. Justine progressed through the special education system in Northern Virginia before accepting employment in a job coach supported environment performing housekeeping services. When her family moved to North Carolina, Justine began volunteering at the YMCA as a “greeter” – her smile is her signature – and attending a church sponsored Arts Center where she has made new friends and tapped into her creative side. Justine’s passion is to go to overnight summer camp where she has renewed her friendships annually since the age of 12. She also enjoys yoga and Special Olympics bowling.

Justine’s artwork, Blots of Color, was selected to visually represent the sensory aspect of HÆRFEST COFFEE’S Ethiopia – a medium roasted coffee showcasing an aroma of berry fruit, tasting notes of black currant and blueberry, and has a great balance between acidity and body.
